Meet Toby.
Toby likes fire engines, big trucks, candy and playing ball with his friends. He doesn't like eating vegetables or having to go to bed early. Toby really wants to go to school since he thinks he'd be really good at maths and PE. Toby is made out of linen and stuffed with rags (strips of old sheets) and polyfill. He has a button for a belly button and his nose and eyes are embroidered. The patch over his eye is felt. Toby's overalls are made out of durable denim and they've been gently aged to make them look like they've been worn a bit. The straps attatch with snaps and the front flap has metal buttons for decoration. All the pockets work and the back pockets have decorative stitching on them. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Half the fun for me in making rag-pets is taking their photos. I always try to find a backdrop that suits the personality of the animal.
These are actually the second photos I took of Toby, as the first set didn't turn out too well. It was boiling hot outside and there were kids screetching around me (I was using the sand box in our court yard's play area), but it was obviously well worth it.
The T-shirt material was a great find, it was a scrap in the discount bin in my local fabric store. It's just the perfect colour way for Toby. Who by the way, is named after a friend's (~xaya) BJD.
