Artist's Comments

Once again, this is the product of me trying out something new. I'm still very inexperienced at photography, but I do feel that I am getting a little better at it as I go along (great big thanks to ~aap for his help on this).
I use a pretty basic ordinary digital camera but I tried out a LOMO effect on this particular picture (instructions for it found here: [link] ), as I like the grungey feel of it and it suits the vintage style of this picture. Also, the original photo wasn't of the best quality but it was the best shot of the shoot and I still wanted to use it, so the LOMO-feel seemed like a good option.

The dolls pictured are Blythe dolls, the undies they're wearing are made by me from some old fleamarket finds and the vintage paperdoll clothes they're holding are from Paperdoll Parade.

I really appreciate any feedback you can give me on this. :)

I really like the idea. Would make a great postcard or poster maybe. :) To bad you can't se the undies the doll to the left is wearing, 'cause they look really cute. Otherwise I like the position of the dolls and how you put the clothes on the floor. That LOMO effect is really cool, gives the pic an older look. :D

it looks like you put a lot of time setting this scene up. that a trademark of a promising photographer. :)
this is a very good scene. the composition is nice, although i would suggest chopping about a centimetre off of the left side to make it appear more symmetrical. the lighting is nice, but a bit too dark and orangey.
also, one doll is farther back than the other. moving it forward might balence out the picture more.
the scene is VERY well put together, though. i'm really impressed. creative and appealing. i really like how the dolls are glaring at eachother.
and last but not least, a little sharpening would pull this whole thing together. super-easy to do in Photoshop.

this is a very good photograph. i hope this helps at least a little bit.
:)
great work! keep it up!

Thank you so much for your comment. :)
If you want to see a slightly better shot of the slip (that was made from a really horrid 80's robe) go here -> [link]

I'm really liking the LOMO effect myself too, as it does hide a multitude of sins. :D I'd love to get my hands on a real LOMO or a Holga camera.

Every little bit helps, thank you ever so much. :)

I've been trying to get rid of the orange tint by trying to rely more on natural light rather than autoficial light. I don't have any fancy lighting equipment so I make do with what I got. That's one reason I opted for the LOMO feel, as I just couldn't get the colours right no matter what I tried.
For some reason sharpening the picture didn't come to mind at all as I was working on it. I'll remember that next time though, it is an easy little trick after all.

I find that setting up the pictures is my favorite part of the whole process. My photos rarely turn out flawless and usually they require a bit of photoshopping afterwards, but atleast I can have fun setting up my little pictures and scenes. I'm actually very flattered to hear such great praise for my set up. :)

It's actually kinda creepy... I like it.
It's like they know that the dresses will never fit and they're laughing at us. ;)
:iconkittyvane:
Maybe they are laughing . :D
I like how I can get expressions and emotions out of inanimate objects, it's like breathing life into them in a way.
:iconkittyvane:
I made a few corrections and adjustments to it following your suggestions, and now it looks worlds better!
Thank you for your help. :)
