Green sleeves by =kittyvane is simple, yet extremely well crafted. You can tell when a person has an eye for dressmaking. It doesn't have to be constructually ornate or loaded with beads and baubels to be a unique and right work of art. The layout also brings you into the cleanliness of the small details that make it just work.

Description

A friend of mine asked me to make her a dress for a wedding that she's attending/performing at today. So, I spent all of this week working on this and we got it finished just on time! :)

The dress is made from dyed linen (my friend dyed it, as our washing machine isn't big enough for stuff like that) and it has a fully lined bodice and sleeves. The skirt is a full circle and the hem circumfrence is about 6 meters, all hand hemmed. The bodice has three darts on either side and the cuffs begin just above the elbow. The cuffs are split open since my friend plays the cello, and needs to be able to move & bend her arms freely, yet she wanted her dress to have longer sleeves. There's a hastily put together calico petticoat underneath to give the skirt a little more body.

Apologies for the overexposed photos, I didn't have a lot of time to take pictures before my friend had to rush off to the wedding.
